Small world. Sounds like the armored vehicle you mentioned (the Dominator 4), which lost its hood, was the first to ome across the Weather Channel truck.
KFOR in OKC was just showing video from some of their chasers that were near the Weather Channel truck. The tornado looks far away at first, then it made a sudden turn toward them and also rapidly expanded in size. Went from relatively safe to "staring death in the face" in about 20-30 seconds.

Agreed. Some of those armored storm vehicles will go through smaller tornadoes, but that same chaser you mentioned said he would even dream of intercepting this one.
Storm chasers are actually an important part of the coverage that keeps people safe. You can't always tell if a tornado is on the ground just looking at radar. I'm not saying these guys are like fire fighters, but it isn't just about getting footage.
