You know he wanted to take it and some poor WH aide got stuck with the job of telling him it was a joke at his expense.
No chance the symptoms are the same and the women just don’t have the luxury to lay on the couch all day? This sounds like excellent science. /s
Finally!
Shout-out to Ann Curry!!! I hope you are celebrating wherever you are, hon.
This makes me wish Rich and Caity would get together for another “The Best Restaurant in NY”
From 1999
Dear god. This is New York. If you are paying $29 for a bagel with schmear, someone needs to drop kick you across the park to Zabar’s.
Every Democrat needs to run ads that say “Republicans want to take away your health care.” “Republicans want to take away your Social Security.” “Republicans want to raise your taxes to give more breaks to corporations that relocate overseas.”
Germany, also (at least in the East German city where I live). The only way we can tell that it’s spring is because the hippies are *hey presto* shoeless, and it’s never indoors - always outdoors across the filthy sidewalks lined with cigarette butts and loogies and dog shit. Those same people are almost always white…
But in actuality, it’s an acronym for “The Cucks Undermining Trump Can’t Understand The Crazy Useless Taxes Act.”
OMG yes. I’m a broke ass artist, but my dream is to scrounge up enough for that Officer of the Hussars by Wiley. My husband points out that we don’t currently own a wall large enough to hang it on, but he’s just being a Debbie Downer.
Saw his stuff at the Seattle Art Museam. It was really awe inspiring. Really recommend seeing his stuff if you get the opportunity.
Wiley is AMAZING. There was a show of his work here at SAM and I bought the companion book. His work is dazzling.
I am truly not experienced in discussing art;* I like what I like and that’s that. But I’ll take a stab. I’m guessing the rich and ornate colors and the use of light falling on his subjects in unusual ways are the main ways. Wikipedia says he often poses his subjects like the Old Masters.
Baroque was a higly stylized art movement highlighted by vivid colours, pronounced lines, etc. which created intensity of the subject. Basically, nothing subtle or minimalist.
oh hey, there’s a kehinde wiley painting at the detroit institute of art that i’ve seen! it’s HUGE, like 10'x10' or something like that? it’s really striking in person.
Brilliant. Kehinde Wiley did a portrait of L.L. Cool J now in National Portrait Gallery. Impressive, memorable, really fucking cool.
