I was using the word fractional to mean “Very small; insignificant,” which is a listed definition. “Fractional majority” would not make sense in context, which is what I was counting on to convey the intended definition of “Fractional minority.”

I wouldn’t call it “two specific systems making up less than half the purchases of the game.”
That’s interesting... hang on. Researching something.
You know, it seemed like you might be, and I always enjoy these sorts of chats. It’s truly astonishing how much a difference just dusting a PC or console can make.
I mean, would it have been much worse if they’d left the thermal pad off completely and just shoved the chip straight up against the copper, that’s the question? I’m still completely flabbergasted at how just shoving some old ass Arctic Silver in there fixed it right up.
“The fan would just run non-stop while the processor didn’t actually get any cooler.”
Good for you. (Not said sarcastically). That sort of toxic presentation sends a lot of people down the rabbit hole for life.
I agree. Grandstanding, not planning a murder.
Alright. So, in your view, what would make a piece of art like Piss Christ a non-appropriative work, possibly even a valid work (If you think that word is appropriate) is whether or not the artist is part of the faith they are critiquing. Catholicism, in this case.
“If someone is offended, it’s not up to you to question why, just listen to them and if it’s no skin off ur nose then just adjust to what they are requesting.”
Right. And if it is — because the artist feels they have something meaningful to say about the religion — they should politely ignore the request.
It’s not “X marks the spot.” It’s much older than that. An “X” reads as assent in our culture because it’s how illiterate people signed their names. “X” was the first letter of Christ’s name and a shape that anyone could make.
It is still legal in the United States to sign a contract in this fashion, provided it is…
That doesn’t mean you can’t complain about your own sites ads before bemoaning another site...that as bad as they are does ads better lol.
As a journalist who works for a publication that is not affiliated with any former Gawker property or their parent companies, no one in editorial at any responsibly run publication has any input whatsoever into advertising.
The “community” isn’t suffering because WotC removed a Nazi’s artwork from their cards. By continuing to print them, they continue to be fine with a relationship with her.
Damnatio memoriae predates the Romans, substantially. The ancient Egyptians were practicing it when the Romans were huddling around a fire.
I have to say, I find it truly hilarious that you spend far more time on “whitelist / blacklist” and “white hat / black hat” (both of which have proven etymological roots which have nothing to do with racism), but throw out “PC Master Race” at the end, as an aside — when the “PC Master Race” concept is a direct copy…
Really genuinely sorry to hear about this. Still not clicking on a Deadspin link.
Journalist to journalist:
This was brilliantly written and well done.
Why did you dislike it? I have my own reasons. I’m curious as to yours.
