This actually gives me hope for trying The Witcher 2. I’ve tried The Witcher repeatedly and never managed to get into it for the reasons you describe.

I’m perfectly willing to debate whether or not he was punished in a manner *consistent* with how others have been punished. The idea of creating separate tiers for how people are punished? No.
