This is not mine but the article made me remember it and I think it’s worth sharing:

You ever seen an inner city playground? This scene you’re describing already happens. It’s called basketball. There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with youth sports in American*. Americans simply don’t care about soccer (when compared to other sports).

When you can’t afford pads and helmets you play with what you have. In the U.S., that’s often basketball. For the rest of the world, soccer (futbol), with running making its mark, too.

tackle football costs $$ too. basketball is prob a better analogy for America’s soccer. kids play it for practically free, grow up with it, and the US is head and shoulders above the rest of the world.

Sorry. I can’t read your comment. My eyes rolled too far into the back of my head.

I don’t have to loudly call you a dickhead lol

I completely agree with this. I personally find sports where i can use my hands to be more enjoyable to play. I love watching soccer, but I’d rather play basketball or footbaw any day.

This take is only half dumb. You are right that the reason soccer isn’t attracting the best here in the States is economic. My son plays club soccer for one of the best travel teams in the country. My wife and I easily drop $3000 to $4000 a year on equipment, tournament fees, referee fees, registration fees, travel

Please don’t do the “this society” thing, as if the U.S. is particularly worse than anywhere else on this shit planet. It’s every society. We’re not special. Some put football players on a pedestal, some put soccer players there. Hell, some put sumo wrestlers there. It’s more a matter of taste and geography than some

There was some talks of it being $25 through Wal-Mart’s Google Express? Can someone confirm? I have a $10 Google Express coupon as well. I feel like I would pounce ALLL OVER this for $15.

I have a google home. I use it multiple times a day and so do my kids. I primarily use it to add things to my shopping list, to “tell me about my day” (it lists any reminders on my calendar, tell me the local weather, and play back the news sources I’ve selected for the feature), to set timers, and to play music

Die hard isn’t a Christmas movie, the events just happen on Christmas. A Christmas movie is about Christmas and is a central point of the movie and what the characters revolve around. Die hard is about thieves and a lone man taking them that just wants to see his family, it just happens to occur on christmas but the

Yeah, yeah... you can Die Hard all you want, but don’t forget to DRINK YOUR OVALTINE!

“The Best Christmas Movie of All Time...”

ooff.

Tigers didn’t hit Sanchez on purpose. Quit being a stereotypical whiny Yankees fan.

That was deeply unsettling and uncomfortable for me. If it moved faster it might have been better, but at that pace it was sitting in a 40 minute US History class hoping the school logo on the screen saver would just perfectly hit the corner already.

Yeah, and maybe women just aren’t interested in professions like software engineering.

Exactly. Not everything is evidence of sexism. Why roll out a ton of custom jerseys when the market isn’t there? But what do the people at MLB know?
