I think that being fired over an unprofessional outburst is fair, it’s the rest of the fallout that’s ridiculous. It’s the people unrelated to the situation who publicize these events, ‘create articles’ and ultimately make a career out of ruining peoples lives over relatively trivial outbursts.

Don’t think he’s saying that employers don’t have the right to fire you; just that the way things get overblown is inherently unfair.

It’s already contributing to apathy, though. There’s a reason this internet culture is so comfortable dismissing or even provoking people who claim they’re suicidal. It’s not because they earnestly want to be indirectly responsible for someone’s death, they just assume the person is full of shit, and for good reason.

Not very compassionate of you.

So, you didn’t actually read this article?

Just a perception test, not even directly applicable to this, but what would you do if every day for years I came onto this site and threatened to commit suicide? Every day people tell me how cool, funny and important I am to make me feel better and nothing ever comes of it.

I didn’t say his response was reasonable; just that his attitude towards this growing trend is reasonable. He should keep it to himself, though, when faced with a suicide threat, to avoid doing damage.

It’s not a problem for me personally, it’s just annoying.

Actually, worst case it becomes an epidemic of crying wolf that results in people who legitimately need help not being taken seriously. When something like this is drawn from too frequently people become emotionally numb to it; it’s just basic psychology.

The guy is a dick, but while suicide is a problem it’s also a very convenient prop for attention whores.

Regarding what?

It does make me happy that “scandals” like this only tend to make the perpetrator more popular. It seems the more insufferable people out there who can’t take a joke, the more drama, conflict and momentum you can build off of controversial jokes.

There’s really no “right” way to respond to an accusation of racism, sexism, etc. and that’s kind of the point. It’s a win-all in an argument. It’s a safe way to defame anyone you don’t like for any reason, and there’s no way they can come out of it looking good.

While pirating is obviously theft it’s also understandable in some cases. I mean you’re poor; your life kind of sucks; you need your money for more important things, but games make you happy/keep your head out of the oven.

People talking about her on another stream is fine, it doesn’t matter if they’re objectifying her, or whatever... Everyone who displays themselves in public should be accepting of the fact that they will be talked about, and it may not always be respectful. You can’t offer yourself up for public consumption and expect

There was a cause, a faulty dryer. Faulty electronics can cause fires as long as they’re plugged in; they don’t have to be in use.

Was about to call bullshit on actual criminal charges and jail time just for spamming mean messages, but then I saw that he was linking to child porn.

*Yawn* at lack of humanity and racism; it’s hilarious how people like you think silly accusations like this bolster your argument. They actually just make you sound petty.

I understand what you’re saying, but it’s still beyond the point.

Open or expanded immigration is irrelevant, the same reasoning would apply to either.
