Yeah, I was crushed the last 3 episodes of it and didn’t want to turn it off. I will say it was a little of a let down in horror but man the line in the last episode about what the story really was made me cry because I felt the same way.

I watched all 9 already and I will just say this.

I played it until I didn’t want to any more and then I stopped. I don’t know why this is such an unthinkable concept for so many people.

The Resi games got a few CG tie-in films that are pretty fun, albeit batshit insane. Anime nonsense with some wonderfully overwrought fight scenes.

But I don’t think the things you called out are “problems”. The Matrix is a great action movie that looks like nothing else at the time and does a great job of blending some goofy-ass action movie tropes with seriously great HK-style action and some compelling, engaging subtext. All that’s good stuff.

The thing about ‘anti-consumer’ in the context of a discussion about gaming is that people tend to toss it around with the same flippancy and near total lack of understanding as anti-maskers evoking the First Amendment.

I’m reminded of the Cooking Mama Switch fiasco, when the rights-owner didn’t authorize the publisher to make the game, then the developer put it out themselves. Or something like that.
