Is any of this surprising? There’s no competing family movies out right now, and won’t be until GoTG Vol. 3 in two more weeks.

Apparently it’s won awards in multiple time periods.Impressive really.
Thanks, I’ll look into Becky’s. I definitely agree that the 35MM projection at Mahoning is definitely dim. The draw there for me are the events and guests. The David Lynch weekend from 2021 crossed off a few bucket-list theater items for me and was a blast overall. Becky’s looks like a better setup and I’ll definitely…
It’s cheaper for matinee here, around that price, if not less/more. I just happened to look at the first movie that popped up(in this case Renfield @ 5pm today) for the general price of a theater with a recliner compared to a theater without.
It’s not about Grogu being a fleshed out character, but the main drive of the actual show revolved around Grogu and his past and his future. Once that was resolved(in an entirely different show), it was very jarring. Especially to those that didn’t watch TBoBF. I don’t think it’s about people treating Grogu like a…
Yeah, I’m not sure how it all can be resolved and also not referenced in the sequel trilogy. I’m not super well versed in the books and comics or the animated shows, but there are possibilities, that I’m well...skeptical about.
Not sure a recliner always necessitates a higher movie ticket. At least when it comes to big chain theaters. A ticket to Renfield today @ 5pm at my local Cinemark, the only theater around me with a recliner is about $13.50. All other chain theaters without recliners(AMC, Regal, Reading) were priced between $12.50 and…
Yeah, sorry if I spoiled it, but pretty much if you didn’t see ToBF, you were denied the resolution to Grogu’s story told in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian.
Although I’m totally not defending this season, Grogu’s story is basically over. The Grogu Saga effectively ended in The Book of Boba Fett, when he chose to be a Mandalorian over a Jedi. Sure we’ll get snippets of his backstory and see where he does from here, but now the show is now in it’s Mandalore Saga. For better…
I feel like all this is to squeeze the last few sales out before Spider-Man 2 comes out. It has to be. It’s a first party title, no reason they can’t keep it on there, especially with the sequel launching soon. Probably going to release a trailer around Summer Game Fest, so the timing is very suspect.
“I think we can all agree it is more or less impossible to adapt a single game into a single movie, there is just too much you NEED to cut from a game to make it fit in a say 2 hour movie runtime.”
Oof, if Anderson, Neil Marshall and Staheski are your top three English speaking action directors, you need to see more action movies my friend.
Yeah exactly. The key to indie theater survival is to counter-program first one corporate theaters. It’s how the Mahoning Drive-In operates and is making a killing as a result. Check out the documentary At The Drive-In, for their story. I totally think that not only could indie theaters survive by turning into…
Yeah, I’m hoping JC can open up a Scum and Villany in NJ as well, as he’s alluded to doing in the past. I’m actually not shocked that Mario did well there. The main street where it’s located is frequented by a lot of families. It’s also next door to an ice cream parlor and in the surrounding blocks, by a bunch of…
Yeah, I said in my second paragraph that not every indie theater has that benefit, but that he also doesn’t make money from first run movies there. He’s stated that the money is from events and from concessions. I mean if more indie theaters offered unique concessions(they don’t have to be Alamo level here), I’d be…
Lo-fi Girl is back on. She’s now joined by a counterpart, the viewers have dubbed “Synth Boy”.
I think they can be saved but they need to switch models from being just first run theaters. Kevin Smith bought a theater in NJ and is keeping that going between being both first run and a place for him to host event screenings which he said makes more money than the first run movies there.
Not liking something doesn’t equate to being “out of touch”. It just means they have an opinion. If Rotten Tomatoes is a storyteller, another tale they’ve spun is that the The Rise of Skywalker’s popcorn rating is 86%.
I’m shocked the fight with Zero, and John ascending the glass floored office of the Continental from the end of Parabellum isn’t on the list. I personally wouldn’t have put the subway fight or the Catacombs and subbed in the 2 end set pieces from 3 in those slots, myself. 2 was the worst of the series for me. Having…
I think it depends on if the distributor takes the time to do it. I shop both Shop-Rite and Wegman’s and it’s a crap shoot if either will have bananas with the wrap around the stem. I don’t think it’s the stores themselves because i’ve seen them restock right out of boxes and crates with the plastic band on there.
