Sure thing! It wasn’t uncommon for big box stores(i.e. Best Buy, Target, etc.) to break a street day, most times unknowingly. Especially when it comes to “cheaper” products, like guides. Also, the stores themselves don’t really see penalties unless it becomes an issue in the public.

When I used to work at Toys R Us and Best Buy we got in guides way ahead of street date. They were vacuum-sealed with street date warnings on them, but it was so easy to not see those(usually from being packed with other non-hard street date guides or they were stacked upside down and the notice not visible).
