I came in here prepared to disagree with you Ralph and find myself considering your arguments. Let me agree on a few things absolutely:

In my car journey I’ve found that at a certain point miles are irrelevant to further depreciation and it’s all about condition. What I’m going to say it’s worth this if it had 180k miles on it but more problem signs? No.

Stuff likes this reminds me of what the human race is capable of doing.

Random points:

Former brand new 2006 Civic SI owner here for whatever that is worth...

My brother picked up an old crown vic police car at some auction and lent it to me when i was in college. I didn’t realize how absorbent the suspension was until I hit a signficant road ledge I had hit in many other cars. In other cars, chassis disruption and significant suspension rebound ensued. In the crown vic I

No, just no. Front: No. Side: No.

I realize the protests/rioters/looters themselves no longer have a single quantifiable goal, but I am extremely glad the issue of qualified immunity is coming back up in a big way. If the Supreme Court validates it , this country deserves what is happening.

I’ve had a dream where you can “design your own” car using a choice of chassis, bolt on body panels, paint, suspension setups for the chassis, steering setups, etc, etc.

This is probably the best driving BMW 5-series since the e39....and I owned an e39 m5 and e61 535 wagon. I give BMW credit for making a seriously good driving executive sedan.

No complaints from me - I bought a brand new m3, drove it nearly 6 years, and paid $28k in depreciation (I paid $60k even for it brand new). That’s about $5k a year in depreciation. And it was extremely low maintenance to own, so I feel like I had a pretty good ownership experience for such a car.

As the owner of a 2019 Wrangler I received a notification in the mail about this issue. It advised the following,

My point on the CF Driveshaft is it’s actually a pretty desirable trait if you can get it. And on making no real difference....well, that would have been a pretty expensive investment for BMW to engineer and produce for no net difference. Isn’t it interesting that once they went into cost cutting mode on the model

Never understood looking for the LCI m3s - mine has the magnesium oil pan and CF driveshaft, both of which were phased out with cost cutting.

Little anecdote for you: On Friday at 2pm I posted my 2015 m3 for sale online in a single forum. It’s a one owner, clean, well maintained, stock model with 71k miles on it. Kinda a hard to find spec too.

As a 2019 Wrangler owner....

Do you mean BMW drives another nail in the coffin of it’s brand and product direction?

Most would consider me batshit but I have a very strong desire to daily drive 993 C4 porsches and 997.1 turbo 6mts. One of the parts that detracts from my desire to daily drive them on the long highway trips is their lack of good bluetooth audio and sound systems (unless you put $2-3k into it).

I used my BMW dealer to have my windshield replaced recently. While there, I compared the 3rd row of a showroom x5 to the showroom x7.

I’ve driven a later model ML and they are tanks - literally they drive slow, solid, and like they are unstoppable. This generation is also solid off-road.
