As a former engineer from the Compass Call program, I can say that it’s nice to see these planes getting some love. However, every aircraft in the fleet was originally produced between 1964 and 1972. In fact, the “newest” aircraft in the fleet is also the oldest.
You have a captive audience with needs and wants but remember you have the choice as to whether you want to purchase anything at an airport. The same economic principles are seen at stadiums, concerts, amusement parks, etc. But hey let’s nationalize everything! That will work great.

While I appreciate meta-studies because of their larger sample sizes, I worry that the author’s using animal trials and small human sample studies to prove their conclusion. Even with all the studies they pull from the sample sizes don’t seem to be large enough to validate all their claims.
This is only a 48 sample study. Anything from the cited study should be viewed as a preliminary finding at best.

Typically the arc flash ratings are higher on DC systems than AC. Due in large part because people believe DC is safer and design tighter enclosures. So yeah, DC will get ya.

I have 165,000 miles on my E90, so far I’ve had the following issues VANOS unit fail, cooling system failure, water pump failure (separate from cooling system issue), oil filter housing oil leak, valve cover gasket oil leak, and the high pressure fuel pump failed.
