Yeah, this whole "whites vs blacks" mentality is part of the problem. To read editorials like this and the comments you'd think all white cops are racists, only white cops are racists, all black people are dangerous criminals and only black people are dangerous criminals.

I agree with you overall point you're trying to make. Paranoia though is a dangerous thing. Carrying a bag of mulch around or riding a lawnmower has to feel a lot safer than being on patrol. Again, this excuses nothing, but I think it's a stretch to bring up that point.
