The car that does the most work in the least amount of time wins. That’s the definition of power, so, no, torque doesn’t win drag races, power does. Torque is just a matter of gearing, so, my 1.8l 4-cyl can make a million lb-ft of torque at the wheels if I gear it that way, but it’s still not going to win any races.

you have no clue what youre talking about. bmw always were prided on the stellar driving dynamics and handling. they offered a stick shift on every car they made in the 80’s and 90’s including 7 series and x5 suv’s. they also actually took their cars racing and were very competitive and many of the track cars tech

the problem with bmw is that they aren’t making a car on par with what the e46 m3 was. Porsche sells ugly things so they can fund awesome beautiful things like the cayman gt4. in my eyes they are making hand over fist with the uglies like the x4 and not investing in enthusiast projects. the m235i isn’t enough and

BMW is a luxury car company. What makes a luxury car company? High quality materials, unexpected specifications, funky styling, garish performance (in one way or another), and most importantly, a ridiculously narrow market you can hide a shit-ton of per-vehicle profit in.

Lots of bad things happened in the early 70’s.

Audi A4/S4:

I think the current Lexus GX 460 certainly qualifies. They went from this somewhat anodyne, restrained front fascia to one with a gaping maw, that looks like it wants to eat your children...not to mention all of the altezza-light madness that’s going on at the rear. But sales have picked up, so what do I know?

The original 916 Alfa Romeo GTV.

1971 was a dark year for the Mustang.

All this QOTD did for me was show me how nobody seems to understand the difference between a “facelift” and a “completely new model”.

Forgot about this, good call. Nasty.

I think there are a lot people here who don’t understand the difference between a mid life facelift of a car and a whole, new, different generation (as in completely different car)!

I always thought the last Twingo update (before the new one) looked pretty crap. By no means the worst one, but one that’s just sticking in my head right now
