Look, I was raised in an optical business family. I have people on the manufacture side, the retail side, and the wholesale side. I'm telling you that NOWHERE in the equation is there a 14x markup. You can get a pair of single vision lenses for $5 or for $140, and maybe you can't tell the difference between the two

I'm supposed to have sympathy for people who are basically coercing money out of people so you can get paid? Fuck that.

that's why small optical stores are going out of business. People use their services - adjustments, measurements, minor repairs - and buy their glasses from online stores that do not offer service (nor do they have to train or pay staff to do those things, enabling them to charge lower prices).

-10.00 used to be a really big deal, now there are so many options for people in your boat, CLs and Spex. Glasses lenses have gotten thinner and thinner, but I bet you see out of your contacts better anyway.

Of course there is, and optometrists are really good at looking at the overall picture - and then sending someone to a specialist if they see anything out of the norm. MDs just don't do as good of a job with determining prescriptions for glasses. It's not their specialty.

Not always true AT ALL. The caveat is **for some people***. For others, monthly lenses get gross after 2-3 weeks.

An ophthalmologist is an MD, which is great if you are dealing with a medical problem (like glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic eye problems) - but if you are otherwise healthy and just need to get a refraction (determine your Rx for glasses or contacts), an OD, aka optometrist is actually a better choice. Why? Because 90%

Tacky? Whatever... I actually don't give a fuck. My point was that if she made any effort she could find really good food that would suit her tastes better - Since you said you didn't know, I was educating you. If you want to take that as an affront to the foods of Western Europe - that's on you.

Just as an aside - In the US, while a lot of the supermarket bread is sweet and gross, in some cities and towns we have some of the best bread in the world, some of the best produce in the world, and amazing grass fed meats. While the average meal in Europe is better than the average meal here, I think our high

i hope you are joking. It's sad if that dude is a hero of yours.

like what? what did he ever do? By the way, we all have made mistakes, but thankfully very few of us are unrepentant rapists and murders. I say all this as someone who knows a bunch of people who actually knew him. He was a horrible person.

Wow, a fighter for social change, huh? As in changing the way black women are treated by participating in a gang rape? Changing the odds of death black children have by participating in a gun fight that left a child dead? Oh - you mean by making money for himself? Well in that case....

Tupac was a CONVICTED RAPIST, a liar, and responsible for the death of a small boy. I'm glad he is dead. Fuck him and his shitty music.

this book scared the crap out if me.

I'm having my students make butter (both cultured and regular) next week - and even from my wholesale supplier the cream alone will cost around $8 for each pound we make. I'm talking about good dairy, but not organic - my point is really that good product is actually quite expensive. You aren't in the Bay Area,

if you actually went to The Mill, you'd see that it's not exactly "a single slice" - it's a big fat chunk of killer homemade bread. I wanted to hate it and be all pissed about the price tag, but it really is a full meal.

good luck. Being a baker is hard fucking work .

really? Where can you get enough good quality cream to make a pound of butter for less than $8 (retail)? Let me know, I'm totally curious.

rad! thanks for posting, that was wonderful.

Ah - I guess so. Still looks like a lame question to me. As someone who is likes math and did well in it in school (as in I almost went for a degree in math), these questions look unnecessarily complicated. Formatting is such a way is an exercise in figuring out the format and only will turn off kids to actual
