well put... even among allies, we need validation from White people before what we say matters.

it’s a shame people focus on appearance. until you find yourself in a society that has constructed laws, and social hirarchies, judicial and prison systems, eduction systems, based around othering you because you don’t look like them.

hoping your child can “pass” puts the onus on them and not those judging them negatively. it also maintains the notion that something is wrong with being ethnic and if you can toss it aside then you should.
