They really don’t want a backdoor into their encryption system. They wouldn’t risk having a hole in the encryption that anyone could discover given the time and resources.

You can’t just develop a backdoor into someone else’s encrypted system. You could exploit some kind of security flaw, giving you access. But that’s nonot the same as an intentionally installed backdoor.

It’s quite big for the liberal party and their followers. They have a lot of support from the coal and mining industries.
