People don’t know how to tell their bosses that their idea sucks. That is the only possible explanation i can think of for its existence in the first place.
Fuck Wall Street. This “Street” punished American Airlines stock because they decided to give their employees raises while they, according to some analysts, gave their shareholders sloppy seconds. I know AA has nothing to do with Jalopnik, but fuck Wall Street.
I’m sorry, I already own a 944. NEXT!
Just buy a damn Golf R man.
The 2017 Volkswagen Golf R is a GTI plus. It’s an expensive Golf. A fast Golf. A super Golf. It draws the line where…
Jeep will be temporarily laying off 3,200 jobs at its Toledo, Ohio, assembly plant while it retools it for the next-generation Wrangler, reports the Detroit Free Press. The retooling will cost the automaker $700 million and workers could be on break for up to six months.
The rugged men and women of the American Southwest will tell you: no car will do but the 1978 Plymouth Sapporo.
Bought an R late last year for sticker. Awesome that they have some inventory built up now, but I’m glad I didn’t wait!
I know performance tests continually deem the RS better, but I can’t get onboard with the styling and even moreso with the interior. The Golf wins in my view... (literally).

R’s are still built in Germany. But even so, the cars coming out of Mexico are just as good. Same robots, same parts, same procedures. My GTI has been fantastic.
I know the GTI is built in Mexico, but I was under the impression the Golf R was still built in Wolfsburg (at least, I know it was when the MK7 Golf R launched). Did that change recently?
But then you have to say you drive a $40k Focus? How is that any better?
As a Mk6 owner, and a former trackrat (and Mk1, Mk4 and Mk5 owner), I’ll say that if you’re concerned with cost of ownership, you shouldn’t be going to the track or thinking about tuning.
I can speak on behalf of the basic GTI. I’ve got an FSI (2006). 170,000 miles. I only have needed to replace the headliner from sagging. The car has be incredibly reliable and has never given me issues. My model year suffered from cam follower issues (google) but VW replaced at no cost to me, even after 120K. Around…
