I definitely laughed out loud more at this one than I have in a while at past episodes. The scenes in the fish market were hilarious, not to mention Braugher's killer delivery on "unleash the beast" (which I knew he would get to say as soon as Boyle announced the nickname), and so much else

I wonder if they'd explore that route… with Jake's new Godfatherhood and even his reaction to Boyle's suggestion, I'm kind of getting a vibe from the character that it wouldn't be off the table. Not that they'd go through with that storyline, but maybe that it'd be more of a topic of discussion.

True, it would be more of an apology montage if they were Minnesotan.

And then Riki Lindhome would be like "Wait, which show am I in again? Where's my flower costume?"

Given that Jake and Rosa have been on the force together since they were 20 (at least), I'm surprised this plot thread hadn't come up before.

My guess was that they were looking to just have two contrasting cops to 'Yake' and 'Rosy', and since (based on their last names) both Riki and Anders were of Swedish descent, they decided to make the characters Swedish. Why settle for Minnesotan when you can go full-on with broad European stereotypes?

It kind of makes sense -they use this episode to tie up season-long threads, and the finale to lay the groundwork for season 3. That's kind of how last season went.

Did anyone else find Jake's sudden relative maturity in this episode really endearing? When Andy hits more emotional beats, it really resonates… like when Terry got to the hospital and was letting him have it, and Jake just looks hurt but holds back because he knows it's not about him right now. I enjoy when the show

Welp. :sits in corner:

I made up a little backstory in my head, somewhere along the lines of "Jimmy went to university and promptly made efforts to unlearn his Manc accent, then lived in London for a bit and continued to hang out with posh types, then moved to LA and only heard British accents in movies" to excuse the accent discrepancy.

Welp.

Jimmy's dad, Chris Geere's acting, and Lindsey/Sam were the only things really working for me this week. That said, the last two minutes still leave you feeling numb and wary. You know you're watching good TV when an 'okay' week still has that kind of impact.

Well thanks for bringing that dark thought into my life… and here I thought the only onerous expression of futility I had to worry about was Jimmy sleeping with Nina…

Okay, one more thing —

I mean, the entire theme song is "I'm gonna leave you anyway"…

When they got out of the house and Gretchen was briefly happy, I was too distracted thinking "Dude, I know you like her, but you just blew $1,400+ on this costume…" to enjoy it.

I'm pretty sure she was just taking notes for future sketches… at the very least, I didn't get a sinister vibe from that particular act.

I didn't think "Most British" could be a costume until this television moment.
