This isn’t scummy at all. I see no issues with this currently.

Yep, paid subscribers and bundles are probably the best way to exclude bots that buy up all the inventory. I think this was a good idea.

It’s their own rewards program. It’s like getting mad at Costco for selling it because only Costco members can buy from there, or getting mad at PS Direct for only allowing PSN members to buy one.

I don’t see this a scummy at all, they are offering them to people that are already subscribed to their service. The did something similar for the Xbox Series X a week or so ago and now I have one. I do not feel guilty about it in the least.

GameStop does a lot of shitty things, but this isn’t one of them

Of all the reasons to crap on Gamestop, and there are a lot (crap pay, poor employee morale, shoving attachments). This is the battle you chose? How is this different than Sam’s Club requiring a membership to enter? Plus, this is not an exclusive perk of the card.....

I’m totally fine with this. Anything that can be done to get a console in the hands of a consumer as opposed to a scalper is the lesser of two evils.

Is this that different than say Costco or Sam’s club?

Is Gamestop the ONLY place to buy a PS5?  No?  Then who cares?  Buy one from BestBuy, WalMart, Target, anywhere.

They’ve been doing this for literally months.  Must be a slow news day.....

This article isn’t true at all. I’m not a PowerUp Pro member, and I was able to get one. The first couple rounds of stock they had this morning were reserved for those members, but after a little bit, they opened it to everyone.

Lol a Pro membership is what, $15 per year? How much is a PS5? Don’t start acting broke now. These constant media hit pieces against Gamestop only furthers my conviction in doing business with them. Keep cryin' baby!

Im the first person the complain about GameStop. Terrible company that prob can never be fixed, even by Ryan Cohen.

IF you become a Gamestop Pro Member, they have had offers for Xbox Series Xs as well. Just to keep it on topic.

Yep, not sure why this is “scummy” or even news. Offering insider deals and promotions to those who pay for such perks has been part of business in the US for decades.

Yeah, 100% “I’m fine with this.” They have limited stock, they’re making it so their paid subscription is more available. It’s been 8 months. If it was on launch for the console, that’d be aggravating and there might be an issue, but for restocks? Go for it, GameStop, I’m more okay with this than weird-ass bundles.

Because scalping is apparently far less scummy than adding additional gates for bots to take advantage of stock shortages, according to kotaku. It's definitely one of those "let's shit in everyone's cheerios" kind of mornings here

Right, it’s annoying at most but due to the high demand limiting who can purchase these bundles is a good thing. Which I wish more stores could do instead of a free for all system that everyone uses. Best Buy found a work around for consoles and gpu in that they sell them for in store pick up only with no shipping

What's the problem here? They didn't have stock available for everyone, so they chose a method that rewarded their customers and probably also cut down on scalping. They probably got more consoles in the hands of gamers who actually wanted them than went to people who just want to flip them.

That’s not really scummy... You want to position it that way but it actually makes sense of them to provide additional value for these subscriptions. You’re a negative person.
