Sometimes I wonder if Shirley's storyline is calculated. Like 1/2 way through the show, she realized "the producers are trying to find a story about me. Umm, my story is that Top Chef is responsible for me finding my culinary voice and flowering as an artiste!"

It would be totally awesome to send a dish back for more salt. I might be afraid to eat it after that, but it would still be a treasured memory for years to come.
