If you’re wealthy enough to “park a car” you’re pretty much asking for it, right?

I hope it will not be like that Hyundai. Can we please stop with those stupid pops and crackles? I’d like to be able to drive a car like this as an adult, without looking and feeling like a tool.

I have no technical knowledge of the matter, but of people I know that I trust, yeah.  Leave is option #1.  Option #2 is be prepared to sacrifice one of your forearms at the *very* least.

Similarly, any good knife trainer will tell you that if you try a knife disarm you are most likely going to get cut.

He is absolutely a clown, but the issue I have is that there are several media outlets giving this guy airtime with not critical thought whatsoever. People outside the martial arts community should be aware that this stuff is garbage.

One of the important things with martial arts or self defense training is repetition. Muscle memory allows you to react quicker and with consistency (if you were properly trained.) Watching something online without practicing numerous times in real life is a waste.

I like my car. I like being alive much more.  So much so, that I’d be willing to give up my car in an attempt to stay alive.  Of course, it’s not a 100% success rate, but if I’m dead, what good is my car to me anyways?

People ask and pay silly money for the 7.3. It’s actually less expensive to buy a medium duty than an F350 sometimes.  Plus BaT amplifies the crazy especially with low mileage unicorns.

It’s the same reason “glider kits” for heavy trucks exist.

I suspect there is an emotional attachment to this vehicle by the purchaser,

I’m fine with the richies getting in on the fun. If it keeps the businesses rolling and the products evolving, it’s all good. The WORST part of the overlanding culture IMHO is the stupid “Tires and Tents” type meetups. What is less outdoorsy they meeting in a parking lot and seeing who has the most gear.  Lame.

He was the original YouTube fakir

Suffering and being uncomfortable isn’t the only way to enjoy the outdoors.

And Walden is quite close to Boston anyway, there was no “backwater wilderness” in that part of MA in that period of our history.

Henry David Thoreau was the original glamper. The cabin on Walden Pond was a 20 minute walk from his family home; his mom regularly brought food, cleaned and did his laundry. The land was served by a rail line; and was wasn’t some backwater wilderness - it was owned by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

going outdoors is about striking a balance between discomfort and tranquility in an inherently uncomfortable setting.

In this case, it doesn’t need snow tires. Just needs to have a driver that has remedial training on these switches.

I wonder if they even knew how to switch into 4WD.

Haven’t we known for a long time that a 2wd pickup truck is terrible in the snow regardless of lift or tire?

I feel like driving and parking a 196" sedan in San Francisco won’t be super pleasant.
