Eh, call me when Musk starts exclusively surrounding himself with Mormons and holes himself up in the penthouse floor of the Encore (which I picked because it’s built on the site of the Desert Inn).

That’s different from Musk how?

Hughes was bat shit insane, reckless to the point of a lot of it probably stemming from brain damage endured during his many spectacular crashes and was always, always, always a shitty businessman more intent on pursuing his pet projects than things that would actually be useful. Companies he owned doing good things,

12 year old boy, if you are talking about Tamir Rice. Still horrible, I just really hope there isn’t another similar case involving a 9 year old.

Fellow cyclist, here, and i agree.

How was it clear? For all we know the city bike’s hollow frame was packed with BB’s and a fuse.

after reading your comment i had to go back and watch a few times. this guy appears to be actively avoiding eyecontact with the officer in front of him while swerving to the right to go around him. I would bet the officer that comes from behind the van told him to stop as well. the van with the bubble gum machine

You don’t make exceptions based on a few seconds of observation that he seems like a normal dude. That’s not how this works. Once you start doing that, you can easily miss disguised threats. Had the motorcade been five minutes out, ok. I might be able to get on board with this. With it being literally just a few

I saw the entire thing from across the street and the police were completely correct in their actions. The road had been closed at least a block or two north of where this took place. How he didn’t realize that something was a amiss is beyond me.

He’s actually torn here between his hatred of urban bikers and his hatred of Obama.

Oh, so now’s you’re shouting police brutality because the person on the receiving end is *gasp* white?

Otoh... there are jobs that must be taken that seriously regardless of the innocent-seeming context. My father had a story he told me recently about when he was an officer in the Air Force inspecting nuclear missile silos. The short of it is that he got tackled and held at gun point once when his badge fell off in the

Yeah, taking outrageous chances with POTUS’ life is the Secret Service’s job.

I’d agree if this was anywhere but NYC. Everyone there thinks that they’re that “one last person” who can just get by before the rules or restrictions are enforced; “Oh you’re closing now? I just want to pick up one thing.” “I know the subway car is packed but let me just squeeze in before letting the doors closed”

I’d kind of agree, but the guy might have been wearing explosives. If he needed to reach the trigger, he’d be able to if they let him up, or even if they didn’t completely immobilize him. Their orders and training are presumably to completely immobilize anyone in that situation. It’s 2016, after all.

So your argument is ‘if he is a terrorist everyone would all be dead, so the cops shouldn’t try to restraint him and shield the crowd??’

No, it wouldn’t have. And the POTUS was seconds away. You don’t take even the smallest of chances with POTUS’ security.

Law enforcement takes the President’s (any President) security very seriously. I noticed that at the Air Force Academy graduation last week. I’m not sure why - something to do with previous assignations/attempts I believe..

As a cyclist I say fuck that guy, the cops totally did their job.

What if he is a suicide bomber with explosives strapped to his body? The cops had 10 seconds before the man reached the president vehicle.
