Tax income does not equal actual income. That 58 cent per mile assumption is going to be way higher than actual expenses for your car because it’s based on averages for work vehicles, most of which are big trucks/vans, not a tiny cheap sonic. Your fuel cost is probably ~7 cents per mile. Your repairs at 6K over 50k

You mean she shouldn’t take a firm, partisan stance that alienates 75,000,000 potential GM customers? That’s so unwoke!

Point the first on telemetric data

I agree.  Why should I pay, for example, $250,000 for an $80,000 Corvette?  That car can rot on the showroom floor for that matter.

Hasn’t like half of the Jalopnik staff written articles about large trips they’ve taken during the pandemic?

“But dealers provide so much value by helping the customer navigate the scary and confusing car buying process”

I’d like Mercedes to step slightly away from the “luxury” side of things and right into “high quality” what I perceive they used to be.

Ferrari has a long wait list for these one of one cars. I don’t think the owner was considering the pandemic when they ordered the car a couple years ago. And sure, it costs the same as a bunch of PPE. Of course the issue with PPE right now is supply constrained, not specifically the ability to pay for it.

Neutral - Carvana isn’t a manufacturer selling new cars, Tesla is.
Big difference in new car dealership franchise laws/requirements and used car re-sellers.

$164,000

At this point I think GM could give all of you a billion dollars each and you’d find a way to shit on them for it. It would seem that Jalopnik has a culture problem when it comes to GM. They’ve been making big improvements all over the place and are by far the most focused on electrification of all the major

Or....  Find where the money is going and (the gov’t) spend less of it?  If I have an spending problem, then I don’t try to make more money.  I try to find what I am blowing my money on.

I think “emboldening” of criminals due to societal sentiment is often overlooked. Here in Portland, Maine there were several weeks of public homeless support demonstrations. The cohort of “lifestyle homeless” and drug addicts became emboldened, feeling like everyone was on their side, crime and drug use exploded.

3rd Gear: The violent crime rate in Minneapolis has exploded since the George Floyd demonstrations. For example, homicides through the first 8 months of the year have already exceeded last year’s total.

This has been the federal government’s coronavirus response in a nutshell: begrudgingly ordering up a half-baked solution it didn’t even end up using all that much.

Why is Jalopnik so whiny these days....

Hey heads up, it is possible to build a small light car that is safe.

All the best designs are from the 1980s. We should reïntroduce these graphs. Here’s a mockup of a depreciation graph for a Chevrolet:

As I told Mike on Twitter, the article absolutely does not omit the Escape Hybrid. It’s also not my job to advertise for Ford. If someone is shopping for a mid-sized sedan, why should they be forced into a CUV? Ford is trying to make customers fit its cars, rather than make cars fit its customers.

Ford sold 3.2

I don’t agree with you on this.
