I think $4k for that truck is a really good buy! Nice job. Want to sell it?
Is that truck sitting next to it for sale? That is the real gem in this picture.
Don’t worry, this problem will be solved when all cars in metropolitan areas are autonomous, electric, people-movers.
I think you have to wait till it’s 20 or 25 years old. The emissions is the big problem since the MT wouldn’t have passed the EPA certification (which is why having separate regulations from everywhere else in the world is dumb). I believe that the car must past both saftey and EPA certifications for EVERY trim and…
To give Volvo credit, they are really good about getting back to you - even if it is so they can promptly crap all over your dreams. See below...
You always have to to work around the bottom... Laws aren’t written for good people, they are written to discourage the bad ones. Saftey tech isn’t intended for people who pay attention, it’s intended to protect people from themselves. School lessons are setup to keep people form falling behind, not help those at the…
I would be down. Need to petition Volvo. I’m sure the 2 dozen of us wouldn’t be covering the costs of IIHS, EPA and other certifications....
and here is it...
I would Paul Newman the shit out of this thing since it isn’t likely I will be able to buy a new one optioned the way I want.
If ‘all loaded up’ actually means gross weight, this car isn’t a pig at all. Depending on what they rate for payload in the back, I’m guessing that would include 1200 lbm of people and stuff putting the car at a 3,400 - 3,600 lbm curb weight - on par with pretty much anything mid-size.
It’s totally fruitless, but I emailed Volvo customer service requesting the MT option in the states (can’t complain if you don’t try I suppose). It certainly can’t hurt and I’m sure I’ll get some email back thanking me for the feedback and offering for me to come check out their exciting, safe, alternative models…
Similar here... My ‘newest’ car is an 06 STi and my daily driver is a ‘93 Accord EX 5-speed with 315k on the clock. I thought about adulting for once and getting a nicer car to daily.
Do you even want it?
I know I’ll get shit on for saying this, but if that thing was sold here in the states with an MT (preferably diesel but wouldn’t really matter) I would buy it as soon as it hits the showroom. That thing is beautiful.
Well I think that is another perspective supporting what I am getting at. People don’t vote with their money. Companies will take shortcuts because it IS more profitable. But, what makes the shortcuts more profitable? The fact that people support their unscrupulous decisions, wittingly or not.
Yeah, you are right, they do know EXACTLY what the rules/regulations are. And for long time they have been beating them. I agree they should be held responsible but every decisions is a cost/benefit decision for them. It’s like GM deciding how many ignition related deaths they could soak up (both financially and from…
Neutral: What If Everyone Is Bad
Because form stopped following function in the light duty pickup truck market sometime in the late 90's.
