The problem probably manifested itself in bearing/bushing failure which probably caused wear in the shafts and difficult shifting. A dealer seeing these issues would probably send a message up the chain leading to more investigation. The alloy itself and the ‘hardness’ are probably just fine, but the mention of stress…
