I had a look at Mazda’s website and see that the cargo volume of the CX-3 is 44.5 cubic ft. which is pretty generous compared to the Mazda3 which is 20.2 cubic ft. (is that not with the rear seats folded down?). Both have the same ground clearance of 6.1 inches.

I like this bus concept. In fact, I like all the remakes and resurrections—for about 5 minutes and then I can’t stand them. What is it about remake styling that burns out so quickly?

This is the sister car to the Hyundai Ioniq with the same hybrid drivetrain. I think ECO-DAS is the next big thing in hybrid tech because once you program a route into the car’s GPS, the car can optimize battery charging and discharging to the terrain—making much more efficient use of the capacity.

The Japanese are good at figuring out how to make things smaller.

I’ll take the defendant’s case and argue that rodents don’t eat the wiring or the insulation. They chew on the wiring to file down their rapidly growing teeth.

Chevy Vega: 1971 Motor Trend Car of the Year!

Thanks for the owner perspective. I hear that in CA electric rates are so high and gas prices so low that it doesn’t make sense to charge up a PHEV— let alone an EV. Toyota seems to think EV problems can’t be solved; that longer range always equals longer recharge and recharging already takes too long. That’s why

Seriously. You need hubcabs or something to cover those ugly-ass wheels.

Lack of a hatchback? The Ioniq is a hatchback.

Hyundai’s chief R&D engineer has already promised that it will better the Prius in highway mpg (but he didn’t say which Prius).

Another advantage of electronically controlled hydraulic VVT is that cam chain wear can be compensated for continuously and automatically keeping cam timing precise as the cam chain “stretches”.

Tesla can operate at a loss as long as investors give it money. When the investor money dries up, Tesla will go the way of Fisker.

    Not GM.

I’m excited about the new turbo Honda Civics. I’m also excited about the Hyundai Ioniq.

Great article! Paint is very heavy and the airlines never stop paying for it in fuel costs, so we tend not to see much paint when fuel prices are high.

EPS suffers from higher friction and higher inertia than HPS. Those are the sources of the trouble. EPS takes less engine power giving greater fuel economy, though.

Pretty scenery. Where was that? Arizona?

The bailouts worked? Yes they worked. Just liked the Chrysler bailout “worked” in Iacocca’s day until they needed the next bailout. And, like Chrysler, it won’t be long before Ford and Chevrolet have their snouts in the public trough again. Why should these companies reform? They have uncle sugar to reward bad

I don’t see the point of unionizing. Driver’s “bosses” are their fares. Drivers must compete with other drivers, conventional taxis, and soon autonomous cars. They’ll have no customers if they don’t keep their services cheap.
