Meh. I’m 6'1" and 250 lbs. I fly fine. Am I enjoying myself? No. But I am no less comfortable than I would be sitting in the back seat of any car that costs less than $100k. And I'm getting to my destination at over 300 mph.

There are direct flights. Not every airline will make every route. And not every flight is exactly when you want it. That doesn’t mean availability is lacking. And layovers have always existed, so it’s not cheating.

I’m sorry you hate poor people traveling when they couldn’t before. You can still pay more to avoid them. 

United flies direct from Tampa to San Francisco, you don’t have to take Delta. Also, hub and spoke is not new and was huge in the good old days. There are more flights to more places. 

Which, fine, then you’re into the economy plus territory. Either way, it’s somewhat worse for some of the people who used to be able to afford it, and much more accessible for the vast majority of people everywhere.
