This is Jalopnik, GM is always bad here. GM makes affordable, manual, RWD sports cars? Their interiors aren’t as nice as cars 10x the price, so clearly they suck and are awful. I think GM could end world hunger and Jalopnik would find a way to complain about it.

Grand juries are often used in high profile cases when the DA expects to get a lot of heat for deciding whether to prosecute. The point is to be able to cover his ass by having the grand jury make the official decision.  I think it makes sense to have a grand jury in this situation.

It could just be they want a grand jury to see all of the pro-Smollett evidence. That way, if they refuse to indict, they can pass the buck onto the public for not believing his story.

I am at this point. Unless some extraordinary evidence shows that he was really attacked like he says—he’s a sick scummy, attention seeking weirdo who makes it all the more harder for Black people to be believed when racial attacks and indignity really happen.
