It’s a business that is now completely obsolete. He was trained as a printer, but started his own rubber stamp business. He made rubber stamps for all of the major companies in his city at one point. He sold it to one of his employees when he retired (late 70s) and it was out of business within 15 years.

For a brief shining moment (actually about two months) a few years ago a Whole Foods here in Manhattan had these 2-kg wheels of triple-crème brie for like $10. Load stopper seems more practical than say a clunky bed extender, but 100% agree the step system is for old guys (who probably aren’t going to use the bed as much as they think they will).
