Robert Frost’s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is another good one for late fall/early winter bedtime recitation.  There is also a very nice illustrated book that we used with my oldest.  It’s very pleasant and calm for right before bed, and since he’s seen the pictures enough they ‘float’ through his head even

MF’ers have thumbs AND a bone in their penis!  That’s a dangerous combo.

Something that helps me understand and get the sheer scale of events like this - take the acre measurement and divide by 640 and you will see how many square miles are involved.  In this one, it’s nearly 30 square miles that have burned.

I think it’s time to try a different approach with this one, D. Time for a full dis-assembly, repair, and rebuild. Rip out the carpets, seats, and headliner. Pull the hood and all the doors (that’ll keep the rats out while you clean and repair) and start working it down replacing metal cleanly and replacing full

Great work - this is exactly the stuff that we all need more of in our days.  Working hard for a purpose!  Strong work David.

Always loved these for keeping meeting notes:

Yeah - others have said it but it’s because these cars have depreciated a whole bunch already and that will level off fairly rapidly after the initial drop.

Counterpoint: No.

I have a friend who had an electrician install a 220 outlet for charging his Tesla for under $200. He uses the same outlet for charging the batteries up on their travel trailer. It’s not going to be a quick charger, but it tops the batteries off overnight easily.

It would definitely alter the economic models significantly. So much money is made right now through investments built on credit vehicles like credit cards, auto loans, REIT’s, and other consumption-geared investments.

Not sure about that last item. Many ‘blue’ states have pretty high property taxes, insurance rates, and upkeep/utility costs. Thinking about the NE, Pacific Coast, and Minn/Mich/Ill corridors. Texas and Florida have higher property taxes and insurance rates - especially on the Texas coast - but no state income tax.

phhhs - If that’s what it takes, it may not be worth it.

It’s implicit in everything that many are saying on this, but not one of us is promised a ‘tomorrow’. Not to say that we should live completely feckless lives, unconcerned about a retirement, but that if the opportunity presents to do things like travel, hobbies, and time with those around us that we value we MUST

Came here to say just this - the world has been round since humans could understand what round is and that other celestial bodies are round - like the moon.

This is the correct addition.  Bravo.

As a white guy - I can tell you that I know most African Americans have roots in this country much longer than mine. My forebears showed up between 1895 and 1904.

Kansan checking in here - I don’t want anyone to have to shift over to Dodge City.

Those two, with Cle were just so good.  It is awesome to see Van Vleet taking a step forward on such a stage.  Hoping Ron gets the chance and Cle could make it somewhere.  Gotta root for my Shocks where I can!
