I can hear the ghost of AMC saying it now: FIRST

Either drum brakes or split rim wheels were designed for this exact purpose. I’m partially convinced that these two single inventions are responsible for workman’s comp legislation. Those, and the pneumatic nail gun.

Yeah - drum brakes...sigh. If they aren’t fishooking you they are shooting that ‘Jesus’ clip across the shop. We call it the Jesus clip because that’s what you’re shouting as it shoots past your ear to parts unknown.

We have a saying in my family - It’s not yours until it makes you bleed.

But, I stomped the beans myself this time!

It’s not easy. But, I’m also not saying go without a job. I replied to another poster in this thread with a link to a job search based in Wichita (where I am) - over 900 jobs with a salary above 40K/yr in this area. I’ve no idea what profession any of you are in, but almost all of them are represented in major

Was just going to suggest this. It’s not for everyone, but I live in Wichita, have a great house with a mortgage under $1,300/mo, have no traffic to deal with, can walk to four to six great places for dinner - all local joints. I know it’s not New York, but life is good here too. Sat out back the other night and

Yes - this exactly. I work for a hospital system and I’ve had a fair amount of dealings with physicians. I’ve found that a healthcare worker’s intelligence and ability to relate to a patient are not related to race, national origin, or school they attended. A doctor that is exceptionally smart but cannot relate to

Roasting: I have a ‘Seen-it-on-TV’ type item that really just looks like a hubcap, so we call it that. Whole chicken, liberally salted and seasoned, not trussed, on the hubcap in a 350 oven for an hour - maybe more depending on size and temp when it hits the oven. Super crisp skin, very juicy, and very easy.

You say that, but I think we’ve all had bad sausage that were unsalvageable from the start - looking directly at you Hebrew National Salami.

My 2008 Toyota Minivan has a freaking Sonar button, and it’s real! It toggles your parking sensors, but it says SONAR - how weird is that?

Lest we all forget, the wheels of our government were originally intended to turn very slowly. The founders intended for changes to come about when they were such that they had the weight of the people behind them in such a fashion that the change by the government was a fait acompli.

The nurturing of violence on either side cannot be tolerated - regardless of what motivates it (resisting an administration or supporting another).

Just a clarification - Sarah Palin put crosshairs on districts and not on any personal headshots or images of anyone. Here is her post (with an arrow pointing to Rep. Giffords district):

I think this applies:

I agree completely. I think that one thing to add to cut down on that cover-for-each-other situation is to rotate them around through departments across communities. That would require a tremendous change in the nature of forces and departments but might help get more eyes on the problems, so to speak.

As complete as that list is, I don’t see Bishop, Cardinal, His Eminence, Reverend, Deacon, or Asshole on that image. And let me tell you, I’m certain there will be many of the latter at this event.

The old proverb, repeated by Benjamin Franklin but goes back to Shakespeare, is “a bad apple spoils his neighbor” referring to how one rotting will start the next and so on.

Maybe something for a few weeks down the road when the tomatoes are at their peak, but how about a gently warmed salsa in sous vide that includes infusing it with different flavors or veggies through a dip in the bath? Maybe a fresh corn salsa with other summer garden veggies that would benefit from a slow heating
