I tell my kid she’s not being “a big girl” when she acts out. I do think that it a toxic parenting behavior that I am trying to break. While I wouldn’t consider myself “a toxic parent”, I’m also not going to get dramatic about a listicle headline on a blog. I’m going to be a big boy!

1) That’s not what gatekeeping means.

So you’re fine giving your kid a negative label, but you bristle at having one applied to you? You might want to think about that one a bit.

It’s also not a new story. I read an article on this (I want to say last year?) and she talked about how she came from a super privileged, wealthy background and her embarrassment over her participation in this ball. I’m trying to find it now but every page of google is dominated by this latest news.

+1 for “dry snitching”.

There’s really not much of anything here. The headline and the beginning of the story made it sound like Erin from The Office was burning crosses and shit. Nope, she attended some corny debutante ball thing that has a racist past. Most of the US has a racist past.

The fact that you don’t see the problem shows your privilege.

She continued, “So to the coach of Connecticut—I’m sorry, little sir man, I do not know your name. But the next time you try to call out a referee trying to get a call being like, ‘C’mon, she’s 300 pounds,’ I’m going to need you to get it right, baby. I’m weighing 235 pounds and I’m very proud of being a big bitch,

“Alexa, read today’s news updates in the voice of Liz Cambage please.”

I grew up in the 90s when Elvis was still widely regarded as the “king of rock n roll”. I knew instinctively as a brown child that was bullshit back then. Fortunately, by the 2000s enough folks became schooled about his bullshit appropriation and outright theft. Music history was corrected. Now Elvis is rarely

Fry them in a funny hat

in 10 years, we’ll all be playing stadia on our smart TVs (no console, no computer), and articles like this will look redicoulous.

This was a war crime.

The police and our justice system REFUSE to hold white people accountable, and shit is only going to get bloodier the longer they hold that line.  The man fucking threatened to shoot people because A) they are black, and B) they didn’t just shut up and take it... that’s a fucking hate crime no matter how you cut it.

Pulling a gun on someone with the intent to scare them is pretty much illegal in most states. I’m sure nothing will happen here but that’s clearly a crime by his own admission.

And Mike Brown “bulked up” when he “charged” at the cop who shot him.

Toot also admitted to “attempting to withdraw his firearm form [sic] his waistband as a scare tactic due to [Odubajo] being bigger than him.”

Choosing to write a story about Rogen’s clarification isn’t the same thing as picking out a specific anecdote from a larger profile of him.
