The entire Charlotte metropolis roadway is a freaking nightmare. This is just one small part of all that is wrong with their infrastructure. There’s a reason Charlotte is frequently at or near the top of cities worldwide with the worst road layout. I hate driving through there.

When "safety" becomes a for-profit business, we all suffer.

The United States’ unwillingness to aggressively enforce anti-trust laws is, in my opinion, the absolute worst economic mistake this politicians from both sides have made, possibly in the history of the country.

1. Pushbutton start ACC position: I would sometimes like to turn the engine off but still listen to the radio. With many pushbutton starters, it just turns everything off.

I hate these.  Let me close my own dang door.  Too many times I’ve reached up to yank a tailgate down only to have it resist my pull hard enough for my hands to slip off.  It takes less time for me to close it on my own than to wait for the dang motor to do it for me.

Oh Rivian....you naive little child. There’s a boatload of stuff this Admin could pull to make your claim look foolish. None of these are good policy, but when the whole goal of this Admin is F#ck You, I Said So....none of that matters:

WE HEARD THAT!

In my Tacoma all I had to do was pull the fuse for the Data Collector Module, fortunately. It didn’t have anything other than that. That also killed my bluetooth microphone, which justified my decision immediately. Toyota doesn’t need access to my mic. Fuck ‘em.

Yep. Just disconnect the OnStar/StarLink/MyStar/Whatever antennae and put terminators on the RF ports. (Might have to convert them to SMA first.)

I don’t understand why the majority of consumers still think always-on connectivity is a great feature to have in cars. I won’t buy a new vehicle unless I’ve already figured out how to physically disable that connection the day I buy it. I have a cyber-security background, and I know most, if not all, manufacturers do

But those 2009 cars could have been today’s cheap used cars, no?

Even if it’s not the cause the program could have been much better. For example the cars taken in could have been looked over and the worst ones parted out to make the rest more roadworthy and ready for resale, which would have created jobs, reduced impact on used car prices/availability, and potentially reduced the

You sure about that?

Auto Stop.

The migration of all functions to the screen is the most lamentable recent development. Screens are pretty and all, but impossible to use while driving. On my newish, but very basic, 370z, I can change HVAC, audio, traction control, mirror angles, and all other functions without taking my eyes off the road for a

Seems there is a “bus or two” available...Has he, his 5 children or xx number of grandkids looked into Veterans or local senior/paratransit offerings?

Notice what he’s NOT doing — looking at/typing into/distracted by a phone. While wrinklies chartering a land yacht to procure produce via 50mph on a highway is sub-optimal, so are yoots going 90mph scrolling thru Insta and texting friends their party plans while balancing a hot venti and QT sando in their laps.

Infotainment, particularly the radio interface. I really hate how I have to go into the screen menu to brows/seek the stations. I also hate how everything is done through the screen. I hate having a stupid starter button, what was wrong with the fucking key? I hate how big the key is, I hate proximity lock/unlock. I

Consider this your fire academy test. It’s kinda pass-fail.”
