Not patent, trademark. Basically they just reserved the name of an entity that will be an entity to provide said service. The IP is centered around the name, not the service or technology (plus, I don’t think you can patent a service. That would be a government sanctioned monopoly).

Silicon Valley is dead. It just doesn’t know it yet. More and more private equity companies are moving their purchased companies out of there as their first order of business. Customers of products don’t care where you live to develop them. So why add more to your bottom line by having to pay the salaries and

If you fail once; try, try again. We have been studying up on their weaknesses all this time... and when they least expect it - bam! We invade and they apologize for not giving us the country initially and causing us the trouble of invading.

You cheered when that Senator/Congressman brought in a snowball to the floor to prove global warming was wrong, didn’t you?

Then how come we keep setting “Hottest XXXX Ever” records year after year?

“Professionally” does cover a wide range of clothing styles nowadays. Being an engineer who has to bounce between desk work, the machine shop, testing lab, and meetings is different that the NYC lawyer. But I think there is a point where it can be decided on that that is “not professional” when it comes to excessive

Yeah, when I get the inevitable “Do you play basketball?” if I am in a particularly irritated mood I’ll tell them “You would know me if I did” although I have been tempted with the “Do you jockey?” or “Do you Sumo?” but have not crossed that line.... yet. I travel in China frequently for work and started telling

I know the biological background reason (the need to reproduce hardwired into us) but it still annoys and puzzles me why sex is so important why we dedicate so many resources to it. Much more than other species.

I took a Technology in American History class in school, very interesting and informative take on how tech shaped our history and such.

Thanks for the explanation, I obviously had no idea about the comfort factor of that. Although due to my build, I can totally identify with the difficulty in finding clothes to fit properly and ending up having to tug and pull at them all day long or be wearing a tent/pillowcase. People are not, however, staring at

Most municipalities actually have no laws against going topless. NYC for example. It’s not so much hiding them, it’s more a social norm and presentable to support them and control them. Just like you don’t want to see my junk and saggy sack free swinging around under my shorts, I don’t want to see your saggy boobs

In that dress code, 6 out of 7 apply to males as well (short shorts and navels showing - while more the fashion for women to do this, men will do this to. Very stereotypicaly, just to to Haight St. in SF). And #5 applies mostly to only males. So by the numbers, this dress code is applying to men and women equally

Maybe they care because they are supposed to be preparing these young individuals to succeed in life, which includes dressing and acting professionally and responsibly? And getting in the habit and being taught the manners to do so?

I still don’t fully understand why tormenting and assaulting people with words is perfectly legal, whereas a physical smack is highly illegal and condemned to the highest degree. From being a long time victim of childhood teasing, I can confirm that a one time, short physical pain is much preferable to the words that

Radiolab did an excellent podcast on this two or so years ago. About hunting big game and problem black rhinos (such as ones that are too old to reproduce successfully but still try and kill fertile females in the process). It also goes into the side of how these permits fund the conservation. I highly recommend

One of the difficult parts of this debate is that the permits these big game hunters buy is what helps pay for keeping the parks open and protected. Same thing in the U.S. - elk, moose, duck, etc.hunting permit money protects the land.

Gonna disagree on that one. Many cattle are killed per year, hundreds. Even more sheep. Not as many horses, but a few. They definintly can and do take down those animals regularly. Hell, Ranchers up there will pay you $40 cash for a dead Coyote since even those will cause them problems.

I completely object to the shooting of this animal, but I can see and understand where the ranchers come from on this. Their livelihood is literally being eaten up by these. They see their ability to feed their family and pay the bills dwindle every time they wake up and find one, two, or more of their livestock

... and some of us managed to get a coherent discussion across without resorting to nasty language. In my experience, that usually means the person has realized they’re on the wrong side and is panicking or is trying to mask that they can’t quite come up with a logical or defensible position anymore. And I also
