That was pretty much my first thought, though in this case keep the six and swap in the appropriate manual.

Rob, Long time listener - First time caller. Thanks for your always entertaining banter.

I’m Abiding on this one. I’m may be out of my element (to use the parlance of our times) but even if you had to spend $2k on this Volvos gearbox you would then have a mint wagon in good shape. Would that not be worth $5k if you

Nice Price. I know just how to fix that transmission — with an LS motor and 4L60E.

It’s a simple car and anything that goes wrong can easily be fixed, quite likely by better bits. Same applies to any other car of the era. Calm yourself with the “Lucas!” rhetoric.

I don’t think anybody buys these cars for their mechanical prowess. You buy them for more abstract and aesthetic reasons. Nostalgia, image, the pleasure of having something simple to tinker with...

Seeing’s how a classic Mini in half the condition can easily cost twice as much, this can only go one way.

Our new Toyota hybrid is a zero emissions vehicle...when driven within a narrow set of conditions.

IIRC this episode was filmed on David Tracy’s property.  They didn’t have to do any setup.

I would like to suggest that the people responsible for describing this thing as “ a zero emission vehicle” be encouraged to sit in a well sealed room containing a rolling road upon which an example is driven the equivalent of 300 miles.

I’m always very honest with how much I spend on my projects. I always do a cost roll-up, and in all of my posts, I link back to articles showing all the parts and sweat I had to put into getting the vehicles into the shape they’re in.

Good take. Worth noting as well that the TR8 was rated at a pitiful 133-148hp depending on market and really wasn’t much more powerful than this is now. I’d be curious what the actual power output is on this one given the intake-side upgrades you noticed.

The fact that those shock towers don’t have rust, or the lower sill trim or arches, makes this a NP for me. Been looking for a hard top 7 to replace the one I have, and this one is all sorted out.

While the Court was right to rule as it did, the only thing worth celebrating is the fact that he did, in fact, serve two years in prison up to and beyond his first parole hearing, and nothing he can do will regain those two years for him.  Don’t be surprised if he follows this up with a 42 USC Section 1983 suit

I find it absolutely baffling that Honda would create this ‘hatchback’ along with a nearly identical sedan. Considering how sedan-like this ‘hatchback’ is, Honda would have gotten away with just creating the hatchback as the only model. Hatch-haters still would have bought the ‘hatchback’ version thinking it were just

Every time I see one of these 75-79 Sevilles, I am consistently struck with how timeless the design is. It simply doesn’t look like a 45 year old car.

But it isn’t a collector car and has no historical significance.

It’s in good shape but that’s a fairly strong ask for what is, at the end of the day, not a collector’s car. It isn’t worth the premium to pay more than $3000 for a 40 year old car that isn’t especially noteworthy.

I had a friend drive her Civic around for a month with the oil pressure warning light on. Apparently she thought it was just a “change oil soon” light. I was visiting from school and didn’t have my tools or anything so we took it to Valvoline. They were stunned the car had made it there under its own power because

I don’t want to be the cold water guy, but who wants this? It’s not good at being a fast or fun boat, and it’s not good at being a car.

Something I also learned after living in Central Texas for a couple of years. Keep spare capacitors on hand for your outdoor condenser/fan unit. They cost about $20-$50 depending on the rating, and are dead simple to replace if your unit suddenly stops running. Good ones are rated for about 5 years, but can often fail
