But the Plex app allows you to stream your content from... anywhere?

If by "local content", you mean content you have on a PC or Home Server, then it's fantastic. Plex is an application that runs on your Home Server, serving out your own content to your mobile devices. So you need an always-on PC that contains all that content.

The trick for local video is to use one of the apps that support it. I use Plex, paid for their lifetime service because, holy crap, the entire ecosytem is amazing for local videos. Now my Android's Plex app will cast videos from my Home Server to my TV. Easy.

Yup. It's hard enough to get people interested in a new social service without forcing people to spend $50 up front on it. But if it were just another Chromecast-enabled app, that'd be pretty neat.

I found Net Worth on Mint to be a little less worthwhile after I imported investment accounts and a home loan. Instead my focus now is "Net Income". A handy month-to-month chart to see if you're spending more than you're making. That is a super-simple metric for me to be able to follow and know, on average, if I am

Looks like I won't buy this guy until it's rooted, bootloader unlocked, and Cyanogen is running smoothly on it. The only thing I like about this phone is it seems it's this year's good phone with a large battery, as Motorola for some reason isn't doing 1080p screens.

Incidentally, my state has similar laws. But since there is no longer a "rental fee" line item on their bill, do you think there would even be a discount on my bill if I forced the issue?

Charter no longer even lets you use your own modem. Their new policy is that you MUST use a modem provided by them. There is no longer a specific line-item on the bill for a modem rental, so that cost must just be baked into the cost of the service.

I used and loved Shush! for a while, and really enjoyed its design. However, the one thing I desperately miss is the ability to restore back to "Vibrate" mode only. Shush! seems to only let you set a volume.

It looks like this isn't true anymore? I was on the VIP feeds for Lifehacker and Giz, and now they're both truncated... possibly as of today. Also it seems like the main feeds are also truncated - at least the two links you posted here are truncated now.

Yes, but it's really more of an addendum to the abridged version. The existing parts of the abridged version are not re-recorded - the gaps are just filled in by new content.

There is an unabridged audiobook version out now, and is quite good.

I have tried the "hidden" RSS URL, and both my podcast app (Pocket Casts) and Google Reader's desktop webapp report "Invalid Podcast URL" or "No Feed Found". Something I'm doing wrong? Here is the URL I'm using:

I love this recipe, until I realized that when I clean up starred articles that I decided are no longer important (whether or not I read them), it doesn't clean up the corresponding Pocket articles.

I have the 1st-gen Sony Blu-Ray player. It's not even a very good Blu-Ray player (occasional stutters). The only thing that keeps me from breaking down and buying a Roku + Blu-Ray player + Harmony Remote is because I'm cheap and this MOSTLY does what I need.

I use Plex, which started as a fork of XMBC. You run a "server" app on your home server, and the client App on GTV can see all your content. It's not perfect, lacks polish, but is better than most home server apps I've seen prior to it.
