A twin-turbocharged, unconventionally styled, practical, comfortable, quasi-wagon (from Ford, of all companies) is far from boring. The Flex may be the most interesting modern car Ford has built IMO. That one in particular looks excellent!
If it has a battery, LCD screen, and rubber strap, don’t call it a watch. Watchmakers have been crafting automatics for hundreds of years, adding complications and making more complex movements to showcase their skills and produce fine pieces. The fact that you can’t appreciate or afford it doesn’t change that.
Soccer moms drive all sorts of cars, but mostly SUVs. The idea that minivans are the sole preserve of those who have procreated has long since been proven false by the shallow pursuit of impractical automobiles for the sake of appearance, even if they are objectively worse for purpose.
Very sad day indeed. But we can only blame ourselves. We wanted something like this , they delivered, and a lot of us sat on our hands. Granted it was overpriced or hard to find for some, but still, this happens time and again. Automakers give us the enthusiasts model we want, but then we don’t go buy it and cry foul…
