I admit that I’ve taken a break from reading sci-fi during this mess. I’m not sure how much is this and how much was my annual non-fiction binge. A huge part of sci-fi/fantasy has always been a place where I am accepted. And it sort of felt like the rug got yanked out, with me on it, to a “not so fast!” Moment.

See, I felt the part where people viewed sci-fi in such a binary way that they went out of their way to nominate it over books that deserved it was depressing. The whole fake geek girl aura of it, where there was a “you don’t know what real sci-fi is.” That people feel like some people winning were only getting it…

Go to the library and hit the magazine area or teen area. Pull out seventeen for this month. Read, if you must, and then put it back.
