I think we need to differentiate between skill trees and choices in RPGs and other genres.

In cases like division or far cry i agree. However i think fallout 4 and skyrim did it well. You could get everything yes, but it takes a hell of a while to do that, and you could complete everything in the game and not be close to maxing everything. So you really HAVE to want to max everything to get to that point
