The point is that safe spaces are infantile bullshit for EVERYONE. Safe spaces aren't about physical protection against tangible threats. It's an insistence on protection from ideas and expression by authoritarian censorship of parties you disagree with. And that is infantile bullshit whether it comes from the right

That's not a nice try, that's complete success. We agree completely - Free speech for all, fight speech with more speech, safe spaces are infantile bullshit for everyone.

You're trying to find the limits of freedom of speech? It's catologed pretty well - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/… —- AND YET, we protect the klan and neo nazis and the westboro baptist church in the their speech. This state of affairs exists for a reason. And in protecting their rights, we protect our own.

In what way does the platitude not encompass the spirit of the fundamental principle? Whatever. May you find yourself at the mercy of a censor who disagrees with you.

you seem to be conflating the first ammendment with the wider principle of free speech which both pre-dates it and is what the first ammendment is based upon. if twitter bans right wing opinions, that is not a violation of the first ammendment but it certainly would be a violation of the principle of free speech which

"There is no reason one has to support anyone else's "right to spew blatant bullshit." That's not what Free Speech is, and you know it." —- actually, that is EXACTLY what that means and if you don't know it, you need to take a civics class refresher. never heard of "i may not agree with what you say but i'll defend

To be clear then, we're saying free speech should prevail and "safe spaces" are infantile bullshit, yes? And we will insist upon this when it impinges on positions we hold dear and not just on positions we disagree with? Y'know, just so we're all on the same page….

It's interesting that everyone's talking about how much of a downer this angle would make the movie and i totally agree with that. But it would make far more sense than the world of zootopia as it is now. All the stuff about "being a slave to your nature" being played as an insult against the carnivores is just

impossible to reconcile harrison ford's delivery of his line before shooting greedo with greedo actually getting an opportunity to shoot first.
