I believe as journalists there is some leeway. The first tape was sent to the Chicago Sun-Times as reporters they have to confirm the veracity of what is on the tape before they can report on it.

I don’t have a problem with a news organization watching a tape sent to it so it can confirm the contents are what the sender says they are and write a story on it. It’s not like they pulled a Gawker and posted a clip of the tape with commentary and a laughtrack or anything.
This particular case had some damning details against Gaines. I was shocked when the initial award was given. There’s been some bad shootings but this one was justified. She tried to use her own child as a shield ffs.
Sorry, but I have to disagree that this is entirely Ms. Gaines’s fault. There are many things at play here, not the least of which is that she was mentally ill from the result of exposure to lead in her childhood in substandard housing. Yet another reason to support environmental justice. Someone should have done…
The only one biased here is you and your ilk. Obviously the kid wasn’t arrested for the pledge. If you believe that you are dangerously stupid. It’s the OTHER SHIT he did, threatening violence which is what had the authorities concerned.
Um, feel free to point out what is not factual in said posts, it is what it is.
“Bay News 9 reports the boy was apprehended by a school resource officer because he wouldn’t follow directions, threatened the teacher with violence...”
“I’m thinking any threat of violence that an 11 year old makes is somewhat less than credible or arrest-worthy.”
Do you really think that most or even a sizable minority of the people in US prisons are there for civil disobedience as opposed to real crimes with real victims ??
About 45% of police officers have 4 year college degrees. Some departments require a degree, some require some college, and some only require a high school diploma. Studies show that better educated officers are less likely to use force.
Ever see the traffic stop that led to this arrest warrant? The one where she told her child that the cops would have to kill her and that her child should fight the cops to their death? It’s 30 minutes of her sharing a death fantasy with a child.
This is an instance where was happened was entirely her fault. This judge is completely right.
If I raise a shotgun to the cops I expect some slow singing and flower bringing on my behalf, and nan one of my relatives better try and sue anybody because that’s a plain as day L.
“My instincts to bed every woman I see are reducing from a king-sized mattress to a cot, the size of which I only remember from a tour in Iraq.”
Then why was your response to some one pointing out a common workplace gripe to dismiss that gripe by implying such behavior is warranted by their station in life. As a servant.
This is a really bizarre sterotype that we don’t seem to have in England and I’m glad. I like well-done steak and thankfully have never felt judged for asking for well-done steak anywhere I’ve eaten.
Your comparison is bad and you should feel bad.
This analogy went off the rails FAST. Cooking may be an art, but not when it’s done to sell a product to a customer who will then consume it. If I order a steak, it’s not going up in a museum for people to marvel at it, it’s going in my mouth. So it should be made the way I want it made. If a chef wants to create…
don’t get upset just because they don’t like it the way you like it
Oh, for dog’s sake. If somebody enjoys a well-done steak, just let them enjoy their well done steak. How exactly are they harming you? I swear, steak fanatics are worse than vegans when it comes to food snobbery.
