@fleebailey33: The problem, as I see it, is that the "geeks" mistake not just their wants ("I want a tablet I can run Ubuntu on, and it better have 7 USB 3.0 ports, or FAIL!") for the wants of consumers as a whole, as you point out, but all their wishes for reality. They wish for Apple to fail, because, gosh darn it,

@Beatlab: The only worthwhile thing to come out of all this.

The usefulness of this sounds dubious to me. When I'm looking at search results, I do some reading, some scrolling, some reading, some scrolling, etc. My cursor stays in the same absolute spot on the screen, but the position on the page changes as I scroll. And that position is arbitrary and meaningless.

I'm so glad those "videos are no longer on the web."

@Randy Bush: It is $100 cheaper than the previous DX, so perhaps it will attract a few new customers. Though I agree, it's still too pricey for me to consider.

@MrVakarian: AppleCare won't necessarily cover your phone in the case of breakage. I did have my 3G replaced after the screen broke; a former cow-orked did not. @bojangles103: Yeah, I know what the brand name is supposed to signify, but I still think it's stupid, particularly the "Windows" part of it. What do web apps have to do with Windows?

"360 million Windows Live Hotmail users"

@Mark 2000: I hope that man doesn't have mechanical limbs.

Dyson's inventions are impressive, but he implies that his vacuums and fans serve a more noble purpose than the iPad.

@Guard: If overall it's faster, isn't that what's important? :)

@Guard: The reports I've seen indicate that the 3GS runs faster on iOS 4 than 3.1, so I'd venture that the iPad will also run faster.
