1965 Corvair 500. By the time I sold it (in 1975), the floors had rusted out, the vinyl seats were disintegrating and both the engine and the Powerglide transmission had had to be rebuilt.

How many fatalities, among older drivers, are actually someone suffering a fatal medical event prior to crashing? Where all the safety features in the world would not have made a difference?
The prices for VW vans are irrational. NP.
A “compact” pickup should not require “toe holds” to reach into the bed!
The cynical answer is “rolling homeless shelter”. The non-cynical answer is that free fares will increase demand without increasing resources. Once a bus is packed full, the only solution is to add another bus. Without more revenue, that ain’t gonna happen, so many/most new riders will become disenchanted and go…
“Boxy”?! That looks like a box that fell off the conveyor belt, got kicked a few times and then taped back together!
Part of it is that the hours are going to suck, given that planes are in the air 16-18 hours/day. Part of it is the literal echo chamber of having disgruntled employees stuck in a silver tube sharing grievances at every stop. Part of it is management squeezing people to do more with less staffing. Sure, more money…
I second the old VW van. Most anything that breaks, out in the boonies, can probably be repaired with minimal tools and no electronics. A related option would be the Vanagon Synchro - more capable, but more complicated.
We have a whole bunch of armchair quarterbacks, here. The fundamental challenge is that laws are worthless if they aren’t/can’t be enforced. If criminals know that they will face zero consequences if/when they run, if/when they fail to cooperate, an increasing number WILL and we will devolve into anarchy.
If cops don’t/can’t pursue, why have any laws, in the first place?!
. . . and they will be. The question is what sort of sentence will they receive?
What, no white Econoline, with “Free Candy” scrawled on the side?!
A couple of good things about Missouri plates are the standard use of more (4) letters and fewer (2) numbers, as a standard, which keeps things at 6 big digits, instead of 7 or 8 smaller ones. I’m also a big fan of embossed digits - the flat ones in other states look cheap and easier to counterfeit.
Simple answer - how many do you see as taxis? I see far more minivans and Japanese sedans.
How the detention/arrest was carried out sucks. That being said, I have questions. If he’s a paraplegic, where was his chair? It should have been accessible within the vehicle. If he has a record, he should have known that this would never be “won” on the street. Why was he carrying around “his life savings” in the…
It doesn’t matter if the line worker is union or nonunion, it matters if they’re properly trained and supervised!
Step one - steal a car outside the airport (it doesn’t matter what kind).
Punctuation is fundamental, proof-reading is expected . . . it’s “can’t”, not “cant”, even if spellcheck doesn’t flag it!
“Risen”, not “Rose” (in headline) . . .
