It always amazes me how careless people can be with expensive things (including cars). But I guess when you have the money to just replace it (or daddy does) it's no big deal. When you actually earn every dollar you tend to take care of your possesions.

In Cali it can be mounted in the lower left or right hand corner of the windshield. Anywhere else is considered improper and will add to a ticket if your pulled over. Never seen nor heard of anyone being stopped for improper mounting alone.

I believe if the phone is mounted in a holder, it's not a problem. But of course, the holder has to be fastened to the dashboard to be legal, because attaching anything to the windshield is also illegal.
