It’s essentially a single player game, but others leave signs around the map that you can choose to read. Some are just tips/warnings like "danger ahead" or don't go left, it's a booby trap". Others are signs that will summon that player for help in a situation.

Haha yep, I ended up just killing him normally but later found out you can just set your system clock ahead.

Usually you do get to keep your gear, it’s just that the greens in the new game are already better than the epics from the original.
