Linguistics is actually mostly mathematical logic applied to language. There is an entire branch of linguistics called mathematical linguistics. Look it up, you’ll learn something. Or you can make more stuff up to show how little you know about the subject.

Oh, I’m not writing this stuff for you. I have no idea if you’re only outwardly dishonest or if you’re lying to yourself first, but either way there’s no point trying to argue with you. I’m just writing for whoever else might be taken in by your false equivalences. It’s just simple math once you boil it down to the

Nope, in this case you abused the structure to justify the magnitude. You said “spitting = mean”, so “awful cunt response to spitting = not mean”. You moved on to say “dismissive and aloof without bona fides = mean”, so “awful cunt response = reasonable”. The whole dishonest analogy served to justify the response by

Spitting in someone’s face = expressing an opinion you think is dismissive and aloof. Wow... it’s just sad that so many people agree with you.

Kind of curious, I was definitely a MH main in OW 1. Isn’t the “too many tanks on the other team” problem worse now? Few times I played it felt like if a team had 3 or 4 tanks it was a lot tougher to overcome than in OW1. I’ve actually been enjoying the balance of Role Queue a lot more this go around.

Nobody is forcing randos to do anything. They are choosing Role Queue because they enjoy playing a balanced game more than they dislike the specific group dynamic you’re talking about.

And you don’t queue for Tank/DPS why... ?

How on earth can anyone call playing the game grinding? They’re not forcing you to do specific missions or grind a specific map or beat a specific enemy over and over again... You just play the game. Which is what you want to do. You are literally calling playing the game “grinding”.

You realize you literally have no idea what you’re talking about? You’re applying knowledge from different fields to one you don’t know. You seem pretty smart and you write well, and that will get you upvotes from people who don’t know any more than you do. Is that what you’re looking for? Because you’re not

Except he’s still as dominant as he ever was. He still wins most of the tournaments he participates in and is still by far the highest-rated player in the world. So none of your examples reflect reality in the slightest. It’s like you wrote about Djokovic in 2021 calling him a fading old man when he won three out of

Hi Luke, I love the donut story, but clicking on the thread, it sounds like Vic’s not the one making donuts, someone (alias Don Quixote) he’s replying to is. Unless I misread it? Maybe you should go back and check.

He actually admitted to two instances of cheating on Chess.com, one when he was 12 and another when he was 16. Other GMs think he cheated online on other occasions, and it’s a bit suspicious that he swears that the only two times he cheated were the two times he was caught and can’t plausibly deny it. I doubt very

Didn’t realize people had such strong opinions about Quebecers... weird. Pretty normal place in general, same kind of people as anywhere really. Some of there are great and some of them suck. Less religious zealots than then rest of North America, a few more racists than Canada, still less than the US. Pretty great

What original game? Nobody can play the original game from 7 years ago anymore, with no hero limits. At the very minimum Overwatch 1 consisted of 3 separate “games”, the one with no hero limits, the one with no role limits, and the one with 2/2/2, and when they moved to the next the previous version became a special

I do agree with some of your general points on internet discourse, but in this case it’s more than that. You can’t excuse a game designed specifically to target whales, because whales are addicts. Can there really be an excuse for designing a game to generate most of its revenue from addicts? Blizzard are far from the

I think the difference here is that this model actively preys on what they call “whales”, but in any other context would be called “addicts”. I played one of these games where I would have been perfectly willing to pay 100-200$ a year for content, but I wasn’t the target audience, so never spent a cent because

I get that in a healthy company culture this tool would be completely useless. But it feels like blaming the glasses for someone’s poor eyesight. Yeah, if they saw properly, they wouldn’t need glasses. But that doesn’t mean the glasses don’t help them see better. Kind of a shitty parallel, but if you have an overly

You probably would have experienced that workplace culture in a positive manner. But not everybody thrives in an environment where people are jackasses (a priori jokingly) to one another. They can experience it as toxic at the same time you experience it as all in good fun. I’m certainly not trying to say your

I think NFTs are dumb too, but they do have the essential feature needed for something to have economic value: scarcity. Anything that is sufficiently rare develops economic value when enough people decide to assign it value, no matter whether it has any intrinsic material value or not. I see many very intelligent

Feels like Bonds is a different story. He already was the best before taking steroids. Seems like he got jealous of inferior players taking the limelight by cheating, so he started to juice up too. Kind of like cyclists back in the day who were all hopped up on EPO and blood doping. This guy cheated to be the best
