I don’t know for Spelunky but for Crypt of the Necrodancer (another rogue-like) the in-game speedrun records are on random seeds. Part of the challenge is recognizing the level patterns. After playing hundreds of hours you end up knowing where to go intuitively.

Me too! I somehow won one out of 10 when I was falling into the slime and the other guy hit bottom before me. Usually I think I’m doing good and then fall 5 levels to my doom. It’s still my favorite mode by far.

Getting hex-a-gone infinite times in a row is a win for me! My favorite level by far.

They seem to have started being more active with regular balance changes that shake up the meta. It’s having basically the same effect. Roadhog is suddenly meta again for the first time in years.

Which is probably what Apple’s lawyers had in mind removing both. Do the even want Unreal removed? It feels like a negotiating ploy so the judge can feel like they’re splitting the difference when in fact they’re giving Apple everything they want.

There are veterans of a war whose whole point was to keep black people in slavery. There are signs everywhere saying “whites only”. Most white people are overtly racist and believe whites to be morally and intellectually superior. People vote for politicians because they promise to keep black people from voting. White

Maybe I didn’t get what you meant. I thought you were saying that our experience of today’s racism could give us insight into what was going on in the mind of a person living in post-civil war America. Isn’t that what you were saying? Not trying to put words in your mouth, genuinely trying to understand.

Wait, you think racism in post Civil War America was something you could not be aware of? Think about it for a minute. You’re projecting your own experience on a world that was completely different from yours.

It’s weird, I’ve been watching APAC and it’s fantastic. Some teams are stronger but all are capable of an upset at any time. Chengdu just went from terrible to dominant with a great new Ball - Zarya comp. I’m guessing the major NA problem is that they probably have the 6 worst teams in the league. Makes for a lot of

The funny thing is that the numbers go up for both sides, so it’s the same fight as before, just with bigger numbers. It’s like those ads for mobile casino games. Why would you play the one with 1 000 000$ in fake money when you can play the one with 1 000 000 000 000$? It’s totally ridiculous, but obviously it

It’s not really “games as a service” that you have a problem with, it’s the single-player endgame grind. Games as a service is a great concept, the problem is that in most single-player games no one has figured anything more fun to do with great settings and play mechanics after the story is done than have a

Is that like a general definition of metas? Because it sure doesn’t do a good job of describing how the term is used in the context of Overwatch. The OW meta is simply whatever comps and strategies are dominant at any time. I don’t see how this fits at all: outside of the prescribed rules of the game, uses external

Metas are inevitable. There will always be perceived “best comps”. You don’t balance out of some misguided belief that a meta-less state can be achieved, but to keep the game fluid and let different heroes see play.

They have a sandbox, it’s the workshop. Anybody can test anything out there. PTR is for testing / tweaking what they think best fixes are. If they thought hero bans were the solution, they’d go on the PTR, just like role queue did before goin live. They just don’t like the idea.

Well I called you a bad judge, I guess I have to call myself the same! I thought you were writing that so harshly from a feeling of superiority. I didn’t realize you’d gone through something similar yourself and were writing from that experience.

You have a right to judge, but you’re a terrible judge. Did you read the article? He was in a bad place, knew he was in a bad place, and needed an escape from the bad feelings until he could make his way out of that bad place. When he did, he figured he might as well get the satsifaction of finishing what he started.

One major reason is to get new players, especially PvE types who wouldn’t have been tempted before. New game = new players also buy it. Expansion = only old players buy it. Makes a lot of sense to me.

I know my experience was terrible. Thumbsticks kept wearing out. Customer service told me that this was normal as they were high-performance. At that very same moment, their website was claiming that their high-performance thumbsticks were more durable than regular thumbsticks.

It does seem like it might be a good idea to have individual “clocks” for each role. Let’s say I’m a DPS and I’d be willing to tank once in a while. But if I queue up for Tank + DPS, then I’m basically only playing tank. So I’ll wait for the 10 minute DPS queue instead. Playing my Tank game just resets my queue time

Yeah, I wish I’d known about these issues when I bought mine. I make it a duty to comment on each article like this, because reading one is what prompted me to buy mine. And different people always comment about their own issues with Scufs, so I know it’s not just my bad luck.
