I don’t see the identification steps for leaking automotive fluids.

Yes, that’s one way to take advantage of the conditions as they exist. I’ve done it, looked for the guy who’s going to let a bunch in and played it appropriately. The traffic problem isn’t cured by doing this sort of thing it’s just a coping mechanism that makes it less bad for those who do it. More bad for those

Look here Cletis, I am explaining how things are. It’s not a debate. This is just how things are. I am not talking about ideals, just how things are. Get it? It’s in the introduction.

I wasn’t responding to Matt. I responded to Belegus. If I wanted to address Matt, I would have. You seem to be critical because I

The merge impaired is what I call them.

some years ago a woman ran a red forcing me to stop. Flipped me off with both hands. When I got home I had a phone message from the cops. She actually called the cops on me. The cop told me that if she wanted to continue along those she would get cited for running the red and that was the end of it.

I didn’t say you can’t drive fast and defensively. I wrote about what people are taught. They are taught to drive painfully slow to compensate for idiocy. They aren’t taught much of anything but go slow so whatever they do doesn’t hurt much. There’s basically no time spent on how to avoid collisions other than to go

hrm? I wrote a long enough comment explaining how driving is done on this continent... I could get longer about why it is bad as it is. I don’t need to wake up, I understand fully how it is and more importantly how it got that way.

People have been conditioned to believe that the answer is technology and central management. The misteachings of central management caused the problem in the first place.

Automated cars are coming because the biggest control freaks want to eliminate any deviation from what they’ve decided is best. We aren’t getting

I have no trouble with merging at the merge point in any situation.

At ramps I watch my mirrors. Who comes down the ramp is eligible to be let in if it’s his turn in the zipper when I get there. The guy using it to pass I won’t let in.

In the sort of traffic I am the stream in the closing lane often doesn’t allow for it. Once in the mess the only chance I would have would be to shove in a fender and hope someone stops. I won’t do that. Also in many cases the lane ending is actually an on-ramp acceleration lane. If a gap arises and it’s a travel lane

You forgot the enablers in the lane next to the one closing that let in tons of people.

Let me explain to you how it works over here. This will be long, because it needs explaining.

If there was one on the road who would notice it?

If you have to sell the one you have you don’t have enough money and would be denied. You probably bought a wrecked one and did a Gas Monkey job on it anyway.

1) CAFE.

it depends on what bit has landed in just wrong place. Sometimes just letting it spin in neutral a little does it, other times I have have to move the car a fraction of an inch in first then back to reverse once at rest.

Ford has been using synchros for reverse lately. At least the MT82 has one.

Some modern transmissions have a synchro for reverse. For those without I’ve only gone into first when it doesn’t go into reverse because it stopped in just the wrong spot.

It’s probably a gawker media rule.

At the time these cars (and many others) were just used hunks o’ crap. Sure there were a few people who valued them as some old copies of automobile quarterly show me, but to most everyone they were just used cars.
