The cops never arrested TC or H.M. Murdock for flying like that.

Prototypes can be and often are very crude things. You use what’s around, what you can get easily. Tooling is expensive. Rapid prototyping isn’t cheap and can only do so much.

It is the nature of government to allow its friends to exploit the commons. Even true in the USA today. I couldn’t get permission to dump into lake michigan what the BP refinery does.

If government has to do special deals to get companies to locate there then the reason there weren’t thriving businesses there is

Backroom globalism refers to the fact that the people are not party to any of the trade deals, the politicians don’t even read them or care to. In many cases their access to reading such things is highly restricted. (there are some troublemakers in office) They are hashed out by the NGOs, the deep state, and others.

Pick and place machines and reflow ovens have been doing soldering since before zenith went under. It is the nature of manufacturing to have more for less. Without the financial sector using monetary policy to rake off a cut things would be cheaper yet. If the dollar weren’t being gamed a dollar today would buy more

Deciding to open an economy somewhat (they haven’t embraced capitalism, they’ve embraced something closer to it, but it’s not capitalism) and being able to make things are two very different things.

China’s manufacturing powerhouse came about because of backroom globalism and the and political systems we live under. There are many people who successfully compete with China and it doesn’t mean being leveled with someone who lives under crony communist rule.

Once upon a time a product I worked on was manufactured

The EPA has no power to prevent registration. It would have to coerce the states into doing it. Under present law that should take an act of congress.

All MickyD’s needs to do is go back to serving fresh, real food like they did in the 50s and 60s. Even their 1970s norms would be a vast improvement.

So let’s equalize everyone in poverty and misery? It’s not likely what you meant but it is what I hear when someone makes the argument but there are people worse off over there. They are worse off because of the political and financial systems they live under.

I accept there may have been some cross over before everything was switched and inventory ran out, but the ones pictured look way older than the 80's. Mine is kinda sleek looking and was made in France.

The bikes metal, the lights plastic.

I got my first adult sized bike in 1982. I still have the lights. Plastic. Chrome plastic and a piece of sheet metal on the headlamp. The generator body case was plastic too and it broke. I have generator from my brother’s bike which is metal. the lights for it were cheap plastic

Nobody in my neighborhood had lights on a typical kids bike. And when we moved to 10 and 12 speed bikes around 5th grade only a few of us had lights. The idea of all the kids having a light on their bikes and then the same older model one is well... odder than the lens color.

You still have a reading comprehension problem.

How much do autobody men make in China? $7200 for that?

just a word of note, if there’s one electric car that’s more crony capitalist than Muskmobiles it’s the Nissan Leaf. I haven’t tallied the score recently but the leaf got a lot of support from government.

That explains it. Q-jets are complicated, especially before the computer control. I bought a book on qjets, read it, and then used it as my guide. Without it the instructions in the kit would have been misleading. A extra $15 as a 17 year for the book would have been out of the question, but I was older and $15 was

“but why is this a jalopnik thing?”

I have had no issues with Qjets. The computerized one I rebuilt suffered from the usual maladies of age and grime and once cleaned and rebuilt worked flawlessly.

It’s even better with three on the tree.
