Are you sure about that? I thought the typical diagnostic port simply talked to the ECU to report the condition of various systems. What I’m talking about is diagnostics communicating with the device (bypassing the ECU).

I remember something about Infiniti having a single network bus to control different aspects of the car. From a maintenance standpoint, putting everything on a network for control and status should make maintenance much easier. But then they can’t bill thousands of hours to the customer to support said arcane system.

I don’t hate any Ferrari, really. Of course the 348 is cool. I wouldn’t kick it out of my garage, but I would also never choose one. Andrew Collins nailed down the reasons why.

It’s a 348. I’m okay with this.

I realize I’m late to this party, but I have a question. Has anyone ever tried to rock their Jeep out of a rut using this shifter?

Of course! You must love the smell of hot garbage in the summer heat because you have no alleys in which to place your trash for pick up. Please, tell everyone on this car blog about how awesome it is to ride the MTA.

I live in Chicago. My NYC counterpart in the company I worked was paid 30% more than me in salary and I still had more take home pay. You really, REALLY have to love your car and NYC to live there and own one. I can respect that choice, but it’s one I’d never make.

Reached the limits of his turbo Miata, eh? I refuse to believe this is my future.

Storytime!

As user Dave said, “good security is unobtrusive and layered.” Our approach to dealing with airport threats is to put everyone in a line and examine their personal effects. The British and Israeli security services do this as well, but they augment it with security guards approaching travelers as they wait or even as

I totally do. I got my Miata back in 91. Other than the exterior color, first gen Miatas did not have much variety. You could have any color interior you wanted as long as it was black. I think even the british racing green special edition had a black interior. (Correction - Tan interior, but the top was still black)

*length.

Funny. That’s exactly what the dyno technician said. I’m reducing my final drive ratio to get little more links between gears out of the transmission.

On my last dyno run, I ran 12psi of boost for 298hp at the wheels.

I have a 91. Swapped in a rebuild ‘94 long block 1.8. I added a Flyin Miata Turbo. The big one - 3071R. 3" exhaust from end to end. Lots of interior mods. A new FM suspension with 2001 Sport Package brake retrofit.

I totally agree. Of course, I haven’t actually seen a light turn green in years.

25 year owner here. I spent two years living in Vail. I know what you mean. As fun as that car is to shift, you’re doing it constantly in the mountains. Happily, the B6 & BP engines in the NA/NB cars are pretty much boost-ready. An extra 50 hp makes a huge difference for mountain passes. That turbo kit is the best

There are worse fates, Patrick. You could get a 240SX, assuming you can find one that hasn’t been slammed, stripped and whipped like a rented mule.
